- Adult is a small reddish-brown beetle, about 4 mm long.
- Larvae reach a length of 8 mm prior to pupation.
- Each female lays 200 to 700 eggs loosely in food.
- Breeding takes place in a temperature range of 20oC to 37oC.
- Optimum development occurs in the range of 32oC to 35oC.
All starters will come with a flour and grain mix, the 4oz starter should be moved into a larger container with a flour mix so they can have enough space and food to gain a healther population, the 8oz starter will have enough food for the bettles and larvea for the time being but once it booms should be moved into a larger container. Just a plastic container works, just make sure it isn't air tight.
These are a real low maintence feeder, they are a slower growing feeder.
Our beetle bedding is a mix of brown rice flour,whole wheat flour, nutritional yeast and spirulina powder.
